Boutique Law Firm Churchwell White Gets Strong Start—Sacramento Business Journal

Four veteran lawyers from big firms have come together to build a boutique business with expertise in public agency, water, land use, health care and political law.

Churchwell White LLP opened its doors at 1201 K Street last month.

Scarcely out of the gate, the new firm already has gotten merger offers, but is looking for careful, strategic growth.

The firm came together rather quickly over the last few months, after the new partners recognized opportunities to complement each other’s practice and cross-sell expertise to clients.

Doug White, a land-use attorney who has handled government affairs for the California Bankers Association and worked at Weintraub Tobin and Greenberg Traurig LLP, represents public agencies and other clients.

Barbara Brenner, formerly at Stoel Rives LLP, has expertise in water and endangered species.

Steve Churchwell, former general counsel for the California Fair Political Practices Commission and partner in DLA Piper’s government affairs group, also has expertise in health care law, compliance issues and related litigation.
