Gage Marchini Attorney
Overview
Gage Marchini is a native of California’s San Joaquin Valley, where his family farms and where he was raised with an appreciation of California’s water resources. As an attorney with White Brenner, Gage brings extensive litigation experience and expertise in water and environmental law. Gage represents public agencies, water districts, and private clients in complex water rights matters, groundwater adjudications, CEQA compliance, land use entitlements, and environmental regulatory proceedings. His practice encompasses both transactional work and high-stakes litigation, with a particular focus on California’s evolving water landscape and the intersection of water resources with land development.
Prior to joining White Brenner, Gage honed his water and environmental law expertise at several prominent Sacramento firms. At Abbott & Kindermann, Inc., he focused on land use, environmental, and water law matters for both public and private clients. His experience at Stoel Rives LLP included representing public agencies and private clients in comprehensive groundwater adjudications, CEQA litigation, and complex environmental regulatory matters, including compliance with the Brown Act and Political Reform Act and implementation of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act. However, before developing his water and environmental practice, Gage began his career at Dreyer Babich Buccola Wood Campora LLP, where he cut his teeth managing a robust civil litigation caseload, handling all aspects of litigation from client intake to the courthouse.
Gage’s commitment to water law extends beyond practice to scholarship. He authored “Connecting the ‘Drops’ of California Water Data: Analysis of AB 1755, The Open and Transparent Water Data Act,” published in The University of the Pacific Law Review, demonstrating his thought leadership in water resource management and policy. Gage earned his Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, where he received a Certificate of Concentration in Water and Environmental Law. He graduated from California State University, Fresno with dual bachelor’s degrees in Agriculture Business and Economics, along with a Certificate in Legal Studies and Moot Court. His agricultural background provides valuable insight when representing clients in California’s water-dependent industries.
A recognized leader in the legal community, Gage was selected as a Top Lawyer in General Litigation by Sacramento Magazine in 2023. He serves on the Sacramento Environmental Commission as a Sacramento County appointee and on the Board of Directors of the Sacramento Garden & Arts Center.
If not a lawyer… I would have become an architect. As an architect I would have enjoyed sustainable design and conversion of abandoned or historical structures into housing or other uses.
