Nubia Goldstein Named City Attorney for Newman

SACRAMENTO, March 26, 2014 –

Newman City Council announced last night that Nubia Goldstein has been appointed City Attorney, effective April 1, 2014. Nubia Goldstein, an attorney with Churchwell White LLP, is the successor to Thomas Hallinan who served as City Attorney since 1997. Hallinan, now with Churchwell White LLP, and Douglas White, Managing Partner of Churchwell White LLP, will each serve as Deputy City Attorney.

“Nubia’s energy and enthusiasm for municipal law is unmatched. Her dedication to protecting the interests of the people of Newman and commitment to improving their city government is to be commended” said White. “I am honored to work on behalf of the city and residents of Newman. I am deeply committed to improving the quality of life for the residents of Newman and will work tirelessly with the members of the city council, the city manager and city staff to ensure that remains our focus” said Goldstein.

Goldstein has practiced municipal law for her entire legal career. She has worked as an intern for several California State agencies including the California Attorney General’s Office, Fair Political Practices Commission and the Department of Fair Employment and Housing. She also worked in the civil law and motion department of the Sacramento County Superior Court. Goldstein gained legislative experience during her time in the California State Assembly.
